The Compressibility and Recovery Tester of Gasket Material Consist of an Anvil- A hardened and ground surface on which the sample is placed. There are a set of steel cylindrical shape penetrators of specified sizes and shape according to the material test (as per Table 1). There are two dials or (LVDT for automatic calculation) also mounted on the anvil for the measurement of the thickness of the test specimen at the time of preloading and the total load. There are two digital dials so that by taking the average value you can measure the accurate thickness.
There is the software in the load monitor for the application of preload and major load for the specified period after that buzzer give the indication to note the dial gauge reading.
Preload – A preload which shall include the weight of the penetrator itself and added weight of the penetrator itself and added weights to give the value specified within ± 1%. Preloads for various types of gasket materials are as shown in Table 1, unless otherwise specified.
There is a selector switch on the control panel for the setting of load conditions as given below.

The Digital gas sealability tester made on a horizontal metallic platform. It have gasket fixture which is made of top and bottom platens and four threaded studs with nuts. Test Fixture Flanges, an upper and a lower, that support the gasket being tested. The sample is clamps between two platen with the help of four threaded studs with nuts. The platen which is contact to the test sample has a specified finish. There is a Load Transducer Assembly, consisting of a calibrated load transducer, the diameter of which is dependent upon the load range desired; an indicator rod that projects up the center of the transducer; a self-aligning ball bushing that fits on the load transducer; and a precision digital indicator for measuring the deflection of the transducer. There is a Steel Buffer Disk—This disk of annealed steel prevents the hardened-steel transducer from damaging the top of the flange.
There is a Nitrogen Supply Cylinder and Pressure Regulator—A cylinder of dry nitrogen with a suitable regulator to control the outlet pressure. Pressure Gage, suitable for measuring 690 kPa (100 psig or 7 kg/cm2) pressure precisely.
There is Manometer—A standard Meriam type 760mm (30 in.) manometer suitable for use with water and suitable for 2.07 Mpa (300 psig) pressure. The scale shall be calibrated with 1.0mm (0.04 in.) graduations.
There is a sight glass and reservoir—The liquid testing procedure requires a liquid reservoir that is stainless steel container of approximately 1500 cm3 (100 in.3) capacity that can be piped into the system and conveniently filled. A sight glass made from 2.07 MPa (300 psig) boiler-gage glass tubing is used for observing the fluid level. This glass gage will be assembled with appropriate fittings and a stand. The scale used with the gage will be calibrated with 1.0 mm (0.04 in.) graduations.
Tubing, Fittings, and Valves—Suitable high pressure flexible tubing and either flare or compression adapter fittings will be used. Small hand ball valves will be used where indicated. The tubing connecting the manometer or sight glass to the test fixture will be of small bore to reduce the internal volume.
